What does it mean in Practical terms?
What is coaching really like?
Coaching is still not as widely used as it could be, so it’s natural to wonder how it works in practice. What happens in a session? How long does it last? How many sessions will I need? What does it cost? Here, I’ll answer these common questions to give you a clear picture of what to expect.
Content:
During coaching sessions I listen and ask questions, sometimes offering you a tool or exercise to structure your thinking and find new insights.
Format:
Coaching works online or in person—whichever suits you best. For individuals near Oxfordshire, I offer “walking and talking” sessions to start our conversation in person. Team coaching can take place onsite, including outside of the UK, or online for smaller teams. I also deliver speaking engagements and interactive workshops both online and offline.

How long does it take?
Individual coaching session
Each coaching session lasts 1 hour, and the total number of sessions depends on your personal goals.
Our most popular package includes 4–6 sessions, scheduled 3–4 weeks apart, which usually spans 3 to 6 months.
Some situations can be addressed in a single, focused session (typically 90 minutes).
For long-term clients, “thinking coaching” offers flexible support—they come back for a session whenever a new challenge or question arises, keeping guidance available whenever it’s needed.
Team coaching sessions
Team coaching sessions typically run 4–6 hours, with most teams benefiting from 4–6 sessions spread over 6–8 months.
That said, many teams start with 1 or 2 longer sessions to tackle a specific challenge or spark important conversations—discussions that are often continued by Team Leaders, sometimes with my individual support along the way.
The length and focus of each team coaching program is tailored to your team’s needs and confirmed during a free, no-obligation initial conversation.
